Time capsules
Time capsules are a very popular way to take important items that are dear to you and burry them in a container in the ground not to be seen for years. A lot of the time children will take items like pictures, toys or their tree house club memorabilia that is important to them and put them in a container with dates and names of each of them on it so when they get older then can go back and dig it up and reminisce about old times.
Many years ago people would put important documents/ artifacts in time capsule containers and burry them in the ground and leave them there for many years until they either dug them up themselves or for others to find. A lot of the time the time capsules would be buried for so long that buildings would be constructed on top of them and when the construction workers would dig to start the building process they would find the time capsule containers filled with important or non important items from years ago. People just need to remember that when they find things that look fragile and are years old they must handle everything with care to assure no damage is done to the property.
Since the 19th century people have been using time capsules. Copper sheet and tinplate was the most common material used for time capsules because it kept the time capsules safe, but if moisture is to come about it could cause corrosion or even deterioration. Glass bottles were also used but many broke due to the shifting of the foundations. Most 19th century time capsules were obviously never found. Now a days the paints, rubbers, and plastics we use on our time capsules is said to help keep the synthetic materials in some of our artifacts safe from destruction.
